In-Store Supply Chain Issues :(

Sad isn’t it, how things have progressed?… wait, that’s the wrong word as nobody could refer to the current snapshot of our society as “progress”, ugh. Yeah, everyone feels it, me too. My book is “on order” by store accounts who have sold out and they have no idea what the ETA will be. It begins with lumber industry price increases that will ultimately hurt book sales. Then there’s the staff shortages that will effect production and every aspect of distribution from shipping to shelf-stocking. Now there are blockades at borders, protests blocking store accessibility and shipments that are simply turned around or lost in the ocean. The bottom line is that the most desirable form of book sales for an author (which is to sell an actual, physical book) has become exponentially harder to do. Due to Covid (and who isn’t sick of that phrase? lol) the in-store author-signings are all still on hold so there goes our best and favorite way to sell our actual, physical books to the awesome traditionalists who want an actual, physical book. Yes, I realize there are far bigger problems in the world than my inability to increase the sales of my actual, physical books in bookstores but at this moment, on this blog, in my little space it’s the big problem that’s on my mind. (I’m pretty sure it’s weighing heavily on the bookstores’ minds too!)

Without discussion of E-Books or Audio Books (’cause they’re not actual, physical books that would help our struggling bookstores) please comment with your suggestions; I’d love to hear from you and thank you for stopping by! s.
